English for Academic Purposes (EAP) is a specialized branch of English language learning designed to equip non-native English speakers with the linguistic and academic skills required for success in higher education. The course focuses on developing proficiency in reading, writing, listening, and speaking within an academic context.

Key Components of EAP:

  1. Academic Writing – Essay writing, reports, research papers, referencing, and paraphrasing.
  2. Reading Comprehension – Analyzing academic texts, critical thinking, and summarizing.
  3. Listening Skills – Understanding lectures, note-taking, and identifying key points.
  4. Speaking & Presentations – Participating in discussions, giving presentations, and articulating arguments.
  5. Grammar & Vocabulary – Academic-specific language, formal writing, and coherence.
  6. Study & Research Skills – Time management, referencing styles (APA, MLA), and independent learning strategies.
General Information about the Course

Entry requirement:

Students will be required to undertake placement test in prior to class level allocation

Study Level:

3 Levels (Intermediate, Upper-Intermediate and Advanced)

Learning Mode:

20 hours face to face on campus learning per week

Attendance:

A minimum of 80% attendance is required (for student visa holders).

Level Completion:

10 weeks

Holidays/ Breaks:

Maximum 6 weeks

Course progress:

A minimum of 50% or greater must be achieved in assessments to demonstrate satisfactory course progress (for student visa holders.

Assessment methods:

Formative and summative assessment apply at all levels of learning.

Course Award:

All students will receive a certificate upon successful completion of their course
